Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 May 2026

Short version: I aim to be fair, transparent, and easy to work with. These terms exist to be clear about how projects work, what I guarantee, and what falls outside my control.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of this website and any services provided by Joshua Thomson, trading as LumQuor ("LumQuor", "I", "me"). By placing an order or using this website, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services

LumQuor provides 3D printing, CAD design, and related services including (but not limited to):

  • Printing from customer-supplied files (STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP)
  • Custom CAD modelling and 3D design
  • Rapid prototyping and iterative development
  • Small-batch production runs
  • Post-processing (sanding, priming, painting) as agreed

2. Quotes and Orders

All quotes are provided in writing (by email) and are valid for 14 days unless otherwise stated. A quote is not a binding contract until you explicitly confirm acceptance (by email or written message) and I confirm my acceptance in return.

I reserve the right to decline any order at my discretion, including work that is illegal, offensive, or that I am unable to fulfil to an acceptable standard.

3. Payment

Payment terms are agreed per project and stated in the quote. Typical arrangements:

  • Simple prints: full payment before work begins
  • Custom design + print projects: 50% deposit upfront, balance on completion
  • Production runs: 50% deposit, balance before dispatch

Payment is accepted via bank transfer (BACS), PayPal, or other methods agreed in advance. Work will not begin or dispatch until cleared funds are received.

4. Customer-Supplied Files

When you supply a file for printing, you confirm that:

  • You own the rights to the design, or have permission to have it printed
  • The file does not infringe any third-party intellectual property
  • The intended use of the print is lawful

I am not liable for print failures caused by problems with customer-supplied files (e.g. non-manifold geometry, incorrect dimensions, unsupported overhangs). I will flag obvious issues before printing where possible, but this is not a design review service unless specifically agreed.

5. Turnaround Times

Stated turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees. While I aim to meet agreed timelines, delays can arise from printer maintenance, material availability, or circumstances beyond my control. I will notify you promptly of any significant delay.

6. Quality and Reprints

I stand behind my work. If a print is demonstrably defective or does not match the agreed specification:

  • I will offer a free reprint or, where reprinting is not feasible, a partial or full refund
  • Claims must be raised within 7 days of delivery with photographic evidence

The following are not covered by this guarantee:

  • Dimensional variance within normal FDM tolerances (±0.2–0.5 mm on typical prints)
  • Colour variation between filament batches (minor variation is inherent to the process)
  • Issues caused by customer-supplied file errors
  • Damage caused in transit (see Section 8)

7. Cancellations

You may cancel an order before production begins for a full refund of any deposit. Once printing has started, cancellation may incur a charge for work completed. Cancellations should be requested by email as soon as possible.

8. Shipping and Delivery

Printed items are shipped via Royal Mail or courier. Risk passes to you upon dispatch. I will provide tracking information where available. For high-value orders I recommend requesting tracked/insured shipping.

I am not liable for damage or loss in transit, but I'll do everything I can to help you make a claim with the carrier.

9. Intellectual Property

For custom design work, intellectual property ownership is as agreed in writing. By default:

  • You own the final 3D model created for your project once full payment has been made
  • I retain the right to show the work in my portfolio unless you request otherwise in writing
  • I retain copyright in any design elements not specifically created for this project (e.g. parametric libraries I own)

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, LumQuor's liability is limited to the value of the order in question. I am not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from a failure of the printed part in use, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

Safety note: Prints supplied by LumQuor are not certified for structural, medical, food-contact, or safety-critical applications unless explicitly stated in writing. Do not use prints in such applications without independent verification.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to These Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page. Continued use of my services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
